Has anyone Military or LE taken the classes. I dont think discharged could take them but now they are open to everyone. The art of the precision rifle was a good vid by magpul, but im a hands on learner and intrested in going, I hae the setup an above average with my rifle.
I have not takes the classes, but Todd seems to be a squared away shooter. He does have a website with lots of info regarding classes.
With the exception of the instruction sections with Caylen Wojcik, NO it was not a good DVD. For a civilian class I would look to Caylen (Magpul Dynamics/Central Cascade Precision), or Rifles Only.
Todd was a Cowboy Action shooter hired by Horus to sell their reticle. If you understand that going in to it, it’s ok.
The bottom line that that they don’t teach anything new or fancy or super secret to success, they just teach the same stuff in a different manner.
There are certain things that he’s taken from other instructors and in the Magpul video doesn’t explain, and frankly demonstrates incorrectly. I’m not sure if that’s just a video thing or an instruction thing.
The Whiz Wheel is cool if you’re brain works a different way than a traditional slide rule. An FDAC does the same thing, just presented in a linear fashion.
If his methods and style of instruction work for you, have at it. Just remember that he’s nowhere near the end-all be-all of long range precision shooting.
I’ll second the recommendation for Caylen. I’ve never taken a class from him, but I’ve shot matches in the same squad as him and he’s always very friendly and shares knowledge and answers questions freely.
Good, yes.
Have been to a few military courses and 1/2 dozen civilian. From my perspective did not teach the same stuff. In fact some school houses have/are essentially adopting his type curriculum.
The range facilities offered are unparalleled in variety of wind, direction, and distance offered. One can also actually do high angle…
The wiz wheel is familiar to those with Aviation and Nautical backgrounds and several wheels can be used with one housing. More importantly, what drag curve model is being used in the tool on is using? G-1, G-7, custom corrected? By definition a drag curve is not linear. Super, trans, subsonic can have radically different outcomes, varying with projectile.
I would suggest Brian Litz’s, Applied Ballistics, offerings if interested in long range.
