I recently got the shooting shock of my life when I found that an AR that I’ve had for years was actually a sub-MOA rifle and hadn’t known it because I never shot it with target ammo.
No surprises there. Just goes to show that some individual barrel/bullet combinations just work well together…regardless of manufacturer. Try that lot of ammo against another lot and see what results you get.
I recently used the exact same scope, bi-pod & ammo at the same range/club with a 1991 era A2 style Colt HBAR 20" = 1.5 MOA that had been a safe queen of mine for 20 years. I sold the Colt a few weeks ago.
That’s pretty good. We’ve never been able to get any PPU “match” to do anything good in 308 or .223.
The exact ammo I’m using is privi partizan PPU match HP BT 69gr (223 Remington Match). This is my second case of 1k and both shot very accurately.
I haven’t seen any significant accuracy difference between PPU 69gr and the much more expensive 223 Remington Black Hills Blue Box 69gr Matchking HP (which surprised me). I buy PPU because it is often available for +/- $8 per box of 20 rather than $30+/- for BH, and since I don’t shoot actual matches the lower cost for accurate practice ammo is more important than perhaps a tiny bit more accuracy.
Ive found that the 69gr. HPBT/SMK is just like the Hornady 68gr. HPBT…completely hit or miss depending highly on the individual barrel it’s being shot out of. Some will have great results while others will have less than great results, and there doesn’t really seem to be any rhyme or reason to determining which will shoot em well, and which won’t shoot em well. I generally stopped buying ammo with these two types of bullet as the 75gr. and 77gr. pills are more consistent.

That’s for sure. Pappabear has a WOA barrel that just loves 69 gr SMKs. I hadn’t read the bullet to be that thrilling, but it shoots ridiculously accurate in that barrel.
I saw some groups you gents posted on a range report and those were some stellar groups.
If I remember correctly though, your re loading those 69gr. SMK’s with loving care and have prob. done some load development with them in the WOA barrel to achieve those great results. Damn you re loaders:D
