Nov 10th taking a 13.5 hour class and since I haven’t taken a class before I’m not 100% in what to get. Talking with instructor we are NOT doing transitions and kydex mag’s on a belt (5.11 for example) will work no need for a full battle load-out rig.
So with that said looking 2 kydex pistol mag holders and need three AR mag holders.
AR mags will go on right hip and pistol mag on the left hip.
Through your guys experience since I’m cross dominant eye shooter and shoot AR left handed but pistol right. How should my layout of my AR mags be? Mag, holster, mag mag or mag mag, holster, mag or something else?
Get one Surefire 60 round mag - no need for mag changes
In all seriousness though. Get the setup going well before your class and see what works for you - what is compatible with your arm length, what does/doesn’t dig into your side when you kneel, what is smooth, etc.
This is an interesting scenario though. I would try the ar mag pouches in front of the holster.
Thanks for the input. I have little over a month to get things good to go. I really would like to get HSGI /holster setup but I don’t have 300 to spare on it. So I’m trying to be cost effective.
I could put one mag pouch left hip behind the 2 pistol mags.
After some more digging looks like this would work well for the pistol. Now just need to figure out the AR pouches
I am also cross dominant and shoot rifle right/pistol left (would be backwards for you).
I only put one rifle mag on my belt. anything more than that goes on my chest rig.
starting centerline to the left, my belt goes – multitool pouch, HSGI Improved Blowout Kit, pistol holster, ITW Fastmag, medium dumppouch below Fastmag.
centerline to right side is handheld light, 2 Blackhawk CQC Pistol mags, two velcro-flap pistol mag pouches, small folding dump pouch which can hold a 20 oz. bottle of Powerade, or partial pistol mags I guess, but mostly I just use my pockets for those…
