The brown stuff I am seeing is the blasting media they use to clean things up right before attatching the FSB. They flash-parkerize under the FSB and they have assued me there is no bare metal. They say when things heat up and there is CLP under there, the media weeps out. They clean it out with an air-hose before it leaves the factory, but some still stays under there and it will just weep out with the CLP when things heat up.

for those who think it is rust, obtain a magnet, place the area of suspect “rust” over the magnet and carefully scrape the “rust” with a pin or X-acto blade, if it sticks to the magnet, it is “rust”…, if it don’t, it is the burned powder residue or “other” OK ?

I wouldn’t expect so. I’d guess that they’re doing it just like Colt.

Maybe he said flash-phosphated. I don’t recall, but it was flash-something.
