I thought you guys in the training forum might find this video interesting. Member “swingset” posted this link on The Other Site, but I thought some of you would miss it there and it is worth watching.

Ambushed with an AR, shot 4 times, fights back and wins. 22min video.

WOW, that’s incredible!

Wow, glad to see an officer fight his way back.

Thanks for posting.

I’ve said this many times: Nobody who has ever survived a gunfight has ever come out on the other side lamenting that they took too much ammo into it. This deputy is a good example of that.

What struck me most was his calm, both during the fight and during the interview. That is one cool customer.

Thanks for the post trax.

Keith

Great example of staying in the fight. Never give up!

Lone Gurkha stops 40 robbers:

my god. There’s a quote by some old English General, something to the effect of “Any man that says he’s not afraid of dying is either a liar, or Gurkha”.

“it was the last bullet in my gun that ended the fight”

holy smokes!

amazing story, thanks for posting

There does seem to be a lot of truth in the old aphorism: “when a gunfight starts you can never have enough ammo or enough gun”

Plus that officer is one super bad motherfuzzy! God bless him!

Great video. Sending it out to all my guys. Many lessons to pay attention to.

where does it say he was shot by an AR?

“…I would certainly carry reloads for my sidearm…”

Uh, yeah. Pretty fuckin’ important. I’m glad he finally get the hits he needed to come out a winner of that shootout!

Intel I saw on this a while back was a .223 caliber rifle, so insert your rifle of choice there. The deputy was hit in the torso, groin, femur and ankle. The groin wound was as bad as you can imagine it to be. His femur has been repaired with hardware and is now shorter than the other. His ankle is still in bad shape and his spleen was removed.

The suspect was wearing body armor and the engagement distance was around 50 yards and worked in from there. The officer was armed with a Glock .40. This was a tough cop and the suspect got more than he bargained for I’d say.

Absolutely incredible video. I was a bit surprised and shocked that the LEO didn’t have any reloads. Complacency can get you in some serious trouble if one isn’t careful. I was very impressed how cool the man was. I’m glad he survived and pulled through.

Very much respect for the deputy, not only for winning the fight, but for his attitude. He’s not ashamed of his Christian beliefs, and isn’t ruled by anger or hate. That is a “big” man. It also gives some perspective to accurate shooting. 50 yds, and the BG with the AR couldn’t make even 1 lethal hit? Increadible!

Awesome video. Thanks for posting. All too often our LE’s end up in a situation like this and don’t fare well. It is a tragedy every time they lose in a situation like that. Its great to see the deputy came out on top in this one.

Wow just Wow amazing story thx for sharing

Much respect to the Deputy, he did a great job. The not carrying any reloads shocked me beyond words though. When I worked uniformed patrol, I never would have thought of going out without reloads. Even now, working plain clothes narcs full time, I always have at least one spare mag for my primary on me at all times. The rounds in your gun have a funny way of going out the loud end faster than you expected when the SHTF.

That aside, the Deputy did phenominal work that day.

“I am proud to be able to prove that a Gorkha soldier with a khukuri is really a handful. I would have been a meek spectator had I not carried that khukuri,” he said.

Being prepared in mindset with the proper training and tools is the key to the equation.
