i am going to try and keep this as informal as possible. i am sure someone else will write a better AAR on the class, but i mainly wanted to address a few things that have been sitting on my mind. mainly a regurgitation of what i’ve been saying all week to friends and family who asked about the class. With that being said, here goes,…
I wanted to first thank Brannon and William of NOLATAC firearms training for being such great hosts. I can honestly say, NO ONE that attended the classes was ever left feeling hungry or thirsty. These guys really know how to throw down. There was plenty of water, soda, fruits, moon cakes, etc on hand all three training days to go around. the hospitality that these guys showed me made the 5 hr drive from houston well worth it. Everything was planned out carefully and in great detail, to the point where confusion wasnt an issue. Everything was organized well, and we never ran low on any supplies, they even made sure the blue shit house was emptied out after lunch. so again, thank you brannon and william for being such great, hospitable hosts, you guys threw down, A-1 style.
Next i would like to thank the Wong brothers for keeping us fed all three days with great food. 2 of the 3, or 10 in my case, meals were taken care of by them the first 2 training days. The last class i attended, everyone did their own thing for lunch, which isnt really a problem but nothing beats not having to go find food. sitting down and eating lunch together gave everyone a chance to talk shit and bullshit, and at the same time, get to know each other on a more personal, non firing line, basis. in the evening, we all met up and had dinner, which gave everyone more time to talk more shit, and get to know each other more. (friendly, locker room, shit talkin that is 
) the food that was provided to us for a very very low cost was outstanding. it really made the trip that much more worth it, like i said, nothing beats not having to go find food. so, thank you guys for your hospitality and great food, and your friendship.
a few things that stood out as far as training goes. Right off the bat, we were all held to a significantly higher standard. I think most shooters, if not all, were all graduates of dynamic carbine I, so travis and chris made it clear how many accurate shots they wanted in what given amount of time. of course we started off with zeroing and then went into the BSA drill on TD1. everyone really kicked it up a notch as far as performance goes and made sure they were reaching their failure point. When we split up in groups to lighten up the firing line, i sat back and observed other shooters. the bar was set pretty high since we had a variety of types in the class. Few LEOs, military, operator, competition shooters, and of course avg citizen. Definitely everyone who was in the class, belonged and were considered “advanced” shooters.
I didnt notice any “cool groups”, everyone sat with each other during breaks and stuffed mags together while talking about the various females that would show up. JP guys gear talked and answered questions other shooters threw at them, and were very humble about their products. they had rifles out for everyone to finger fuck and shoot. there was no brand bashing going on, although a few people voiced their dislikes about the other site. there was a surefire rep out and he talked and showed off some surefire gear. glad he did too because i will soon be the owner of a surefire delta folder pocket knife. 
he left everyone a free set of sonic ear pro.
Travis and chris brought a long a new guy named mike who is head of their airborne division if im not mistaken. Mike did a very good job helping out and spent some time talking about sky diving / swooping with everyone. cool guy, although i think he’s trying to copy chris with the beard. lol.
and of course, chris and travis were up to their normal shenanigans. Chris told stories about how travis always interferes when females talk to chris. they both gave their opinions on topics of conversation and made the class enjoyable with their goofy addons. they really made it a point to push everyone to drive their gun, and when shit broke down, they made it a point to give you hell til you got your weapon back up. they did not only care about how things went when your weapon was working, but also cared how you problem solved when your weapon wasnt working. Travis’s mindset class was different from what i remembered 5 months ago in houston. His lecture was more intense this time around and brought up a few new key points that made me want to stop stuffing mags and start taking notes on my blackberry.
There was a variety of different weapons used, all were in the ar15/m4 platform if im not mistaken, i did not see any sig556/ak/xcr variants in DCII. Travis had a ACR out but wouldnt let me shoot it when i asked. asshole. j/k. i did not notice any major malfunctions with any weapons. unfortunately, i had a major malfunction with my knee at the end of TD2 and sat out for most of the first half on TD3. Then i pretty much started thinking about my friend retreathell. long story short, it made me get up off my ass and do what i could the rest of the day.
The weather was beautiful, bright and sunny all three days with a breeze that made it seem like paradise. JP brought prizes and gave them away to the winners of our friendly competitions. dollar shoot, first to hit 240 the quickest, and a 15 shot kyle lamb drill i believe. William and Brannon called around and got a bunch of free swag for all the shooters, along with raffle prizes that were given out at the end of TD3.
no one went full retard when it came to safety violations. as i observed other shooters, i noticed everyone had great finger discipline and kept their fingers off the trigger. everyone made a conscious effort to be aware of where their muzzle was pointing at all times. few guns fell out of holsters but thats only because their raven concealment holster hasnt came in yet. lol.
perfect weather, great group of guys, a lot good eating, freebies… im looking forward to dynamic handgun II / shotgun in december.
