Course: Basic Sniper (Military/Police)

Location: US Training, Myock, NC

Date: 07/11/2011 to 07/15/2011

Instructors: Tom ALIBRANDO and Malcom MURRAY

This class was presented as a basic introduction to Military/Police Sniper techniques, methods and equipment. All of the Students in the class, were at least adequate marksmen with long guns, even if not experienced with precision bolt action rifles. The Instructors presented basic and some advanced information in a clear and concise manner, and were obviously experienced and well versed in this particular field.

All classroom material was well and accurately presented, and was highly relevant to this type of course. Both Instructors were willing and enthusiastic about training and able to pass on information and constructive criticism for the betterment of the Student.

The Range Instruction was very well done. All Range sessions were conducted with an eye to safety, and each session was well briefed and taught by the Instructors. Each session built on the previous session in a clear and logical way. All Instruction was handled in a professional and courteous way, and any student having difficulty in a phase of the instruction, received what coaching and instruction needed to assist them in a successful outcome. Suggestions and recommendations regarding methods and equipment were clearly demonstrated and explained by the Instructors, and backed up by fact and not opinion. Each of the Range sessions was challenging and interesting, and clearly increased the ability of each of the Students.

The Facility at US Training is outstanding. The ranges were clean, safe and well maintained, as well as the buildings and grounds. The Black Bear Inn is comfortable and well appointed and is a good value to the Student.

The weather during this course was extremely hot and humid. The Instructors were very attentive to the physical condition of the Students, and insured the safety and well-being of the class.

Opinion/Recommendations:

In my opinion, this is one of the best firearms training courses that I have ever attended. As a Firearms Instructor for over 30 years in both small local agencies and a very large state agency, I have attended and sent others to attend many forms of training. I found that the value of this training was exceptional. The Instruction in this course was outstanding, and the material exceptionally well presented. I would strongly recommend this training to any police department or military unit wishing to provide a high quality of training and instruction to its members. I believe that each and every member of this class left this training better prepared to perform their job function. I further believe that this training enhanced the skill and knowledge base of all the students present.

I enrolled in the Advanced Sniper Class immediately after completion of the Basic Sniper Class.
