I recently got one of AAC’s new Blackout non-sound supressor FS’s to try out. I put it on my 16" Operator build. Finish and design appear excellent just at first look. Unfortunately, I have not been able to actually get to the range to try it yet, so I cant give any live fire data/impressions. I hope to do that very soon. In the mean time, I thought I’d toss up a few pics. If it works as well as it looks, I’ll be picking up a few more of these. Sorry for the crappy pic quality, I was in a hurry when I took these.
I keep meaning to get one of those for one of my SBRs. The cheap bastard in me keeps waiting for them to show up at Brownells so I can pay $10 less (hopefully).
I like the ring its cool, I love to flick them lol. Its a very well designed flash suppresor. The boys and girls at AAC make top notch stuff and are top notch people. Rob you got a loaner KAC SR-15 right, just yell at Trey to try and get you a hook up on one.
The AAC non-mount FH like above measures 2.125 inches and the Vortex G6measures 2.265 inches. Thats .140 thousands of an inch differance . G&R Tactical has the AAC in stock .
The standard AAC Blackout FS is not indexed and is not self tightening. The FS come with a small container of Rocksett for securing it in place and the instructions specifically mention not to use any type of washers.
I am looking at getting the AAC Blackout for an LMT 14.5" upper. From searching the forums here it looks like pinning/welding will bring it to the required 16" legal length.
Are there any gunsmiths in the Northern Virginia area that you guys recommend to have it installed?
It’s not going to be earth shattering. I’ve stood right above/next to my buddy’s 16" AR with A2 flash hider when he was firing XM193 in low light and you really had to watch to see the flash.
