Aaaand...California is going to try and 1-up New York

Just saw this at TTAG.

In short,

– Possession of hollow point bullets and similar assault bullets a felony.
Must register and report ammo purchases. Only purchase max 500 rounds.

– 10 round magazine limit

– ALL magazines must be fixed to the gun (can not be removed without the use of a tool)

– 100% prohibition of all magazines greater than 10 rounds. All previous grandfathered magazines become illegal. Felony if you keep one.

– Changing definition of shotgun revolving cylinder — Basically only single shot shotguns will remain legal.

– Bullet Buttons will become illegal — All AR and AK style rifles that are currently equipped with them will be designated Assault Weapons. Felony to possess.

– All gun owners now must be licensed like drivers.

– All gun owners must carry gun liability insurance

That’s just F’ing fantastic. 17 days before the USAF is about to PCS me there.

Holy shit. Glad I bailed the hell out of there.

Yep them new laws will stop criminals from having them guns for sure.
IMHO, if murder was legal… I doubt there’d be any politician in Washington! I suppose Villaragossa will pass a law that illegal immigrants don’t have to have background checks because…well they have no background in this country! And that it would be discriminatory against Mexicans. California, truly the land of fruits and nuts.

Really loved the line from the chief of police in the press conference.

“A gun is an offensive weapon used to intimidate and used to show power. Police officers do not carry a gun as a defensive weapon”

Soooo…essentially…guns are not defensive tools. They are only offensive tools used to intimidate and coerce, so you don’t need one. Police don’t carry guns for defense, they carry them to do their job. Which is to intimidate and coerce, I take it?

Knew it was coming.

Yeah. He fucked up. Lmao.

Just keep those loonies away from the neighboring states, please. Lock them all away in la-la land and let them enjoy their welfare thug masters.

I own a home in IL and this shit really worries me. If I could pick up and move tonight…I would.

It worries me, because for over 20 years I have been a responsible and legal gun owner and have taken it very seriously because I did not want to lose that precious right; and now I’m about to become an outlaw gun owner. It’s gonna be strange but if illegal is my only choice, then so be it.

I WILL NOT WAIVER - I CANNOT BE MOVED - I WILL BE HEARD

Assault Bullet??

Really???

Careful, now. They’re gonna have drones looking for your ass with FLIR.

That was my first thought too.

On the “all mags must be fixed to the gun”- pistols too? How in the world would that even work?
And what the hell is a “shotgun revolving cylinder”? Why would that make plain 'ol pumps illegal?

This is just getting beyond asinine…

Jesus jack rabbit christ, on a kool aid drinking, chariot driven crutch.

I’m actually not surprised.

Honestly? I hope they pass it all. It might just be the straw that breaks the camel’s back in CA.

Nope there is just too much on TV to watch.

If it passes, which is a high probability, it will be fully embraced. Anybody who opposes or takes up arms in violent protest will be twisted into a domestic terrorist and sensationalised by the media, furthering this agendas legitimacy.

Make no mistake, if this passes, the majority of californians will drink it in and LOVE it. No doubt in my mind. There is no straw, and no camel. Just chains and sheep.

The new Gestapo! Have you been paying attention over the last 10+ years or so?

I agree 100%.

If we can bait them into passing super unconstitutional bullshit, then we can spark a wave of court hearings that could get some of their current laws repealed. Like their AWB, or their mag ban.

It could work.

God I hate my state…

So it would make illegal or impractical all removable magazine rifles except those which can be filled with a clip (SKS, Garand, M1A modified). Even hunting rifles like a Rem 7600 pump or bolt actions with 3-5 rd removable mags would have to be fixed and make reloading tedious and impractical. Bad enough for hunting but for defensive use you would not be able to remove and replace the mag to clear a jam. Bolts could still be used as blind magazines but what a pain to unload or change ammo.

It would leave those firearms designed to have fixed mags such as tube fed lever actions, revolvers and Mauser pistols?

So someone with a pre-64 super grade Winchester 70 is going to do what, DRILL the floor plate to be screwed down?! I can see a BARGAIN BASEMENT category arising for online auctions of Californicated rifles and pistols. “Yes, the Holland and Holland .275 Rigby carried throughout East Africa is up for auction and although in otherwise pristine condition it has been drilled and tapped for California Firearm Rape Laws. As such we are discounting $1,500 from the normal asking price.”

It goes without saying that a civilians ability to defend themselves with the proper tools is not even close to being on the radar in this case, and never has been.
