howdy, my A1 603 is shooting low. its a recrowned and re-threaded 18.5 barrel.
front sight is screwed all the way down.
still shooting low 4 inches at 25 yards.
suggestions ?

Did you build it or buy it? Just wondering what FSB and height you have.
built it, always thoughts the older pencil barrels, are the same ? [sight height]
Shoot it at longer ranges and see where it impacts

It’s also possible your front & rear sights are incompatible with each other due to rail heights, sight heights and so on. The front sight may also be too tall
its a USGI A1 upper, and old 1/12 18.5 inch barrel, that i had ADCO recrown and re-thread.
but thinking ? i need to shoot it some more’ i maybe had the ‘L’’ peep up.

So it sounds like you have an A1 or A2 rifle FSB. I know I’ve read of fixes for a rifle FSB and upper changed from an A1/2 to a flat top. I belive that was changing the front sight post to a longer post. I am not 100% on that. You could call or email ADCO or Brownells and tell them what you have.
It would be even better if you just had the wrong peep aperture up! I like the A2 aperture better than the A1’s I’ve seen, which is only a few. The A1 app was too small for my eyes and did not have any markings.

and an original A1 pencil barrel.
barrel has the .625 front sight base.
everything should be correct .
