A Truck Carrying Radioactive Material Goes Missing in Mexico.

Please excuse me if this is posted on here already:

Thankfully, our border between Tijuana and San Ysidro is very secure. Nothing ever slips through it.

Oh wait…

It’s okay! It’s only cobalt-60. Thumb sized piece.

Plus, dirty bombs suck at doing what everyone thinks they’re capable of doing.

Unless of course there’s a lot of the material being used.

Now that I’m thinking about it…I wonder how many more of these incidents have occurred.

Truck and cargo recovered. Per evening news.

Mexico says that the stolen container filled radioactive material was found, they just now need to find the radioactive material that was inside the container.

They found the truck but the source is missing.

Did Holder give them that material too?

Crypto racist!

I wish this forum had a “Like” button. Haha

The thieves would be easy to find right? they’re the ones glowing in the dark

If that shit is throwing off 50rads an hour, Those poor ****ers that stole it are probably getting sick, now… Why the hell would you open a container that has “danger radiation” wrote all over it in Spanish, and probably half a dozen other languages? stupid bastards bit off more than could chew this time… I’m sure the thieves will show up in a few days. I just hope they don’t contaminate anybody else with it…

There was an NBA game scheduled for tonight in Mexico City, it was cancelled. They stated due to smoke . . .

Hell they’re already mutants a little more radiation couldn’t hurt them too much. I mean seriously, how many seven foot people do you know? Think about it.

Crypto-linguist !

Late 70s I was a level II tech, ndt. We used iridium 192 and cobalt 60. Safe to say whomever opened the 60 is not going to be feeling too good about now.

How hard would it be to find a couple of guys with their skin melting off? I mean seriously…

Not that difficult to get a hold of cobalt 60. That said I’ll keep my distance thanks. X-ray tecs always get way more squeamish when using cobalt vs iridium for weld testing. They’ve always been a bit blasé about iridium safety but the procedures and shielding for handling the cobalt was all business. I say let the poor bastards who took it go. There stupidity will take care of them shortly if it hasn’t already.

Gotta be one of the worst ways to go possible. They are not in for a pleasant exit. A co worker on a job in Detroit left a camera with IR192 sitting on the back of the truck while he stepped into the darkroom. A kid grabbed the cam and cables and ran away with it down an alley. It was locked and recovered without an issue. Can’t leave anything unattended in the city.

True, Cobalt 60 never left the yard when I worked there. Mostly used for shooting castings, rotors etc. 192 was used in the field for weld testing. Scary stuff, lots of stories. Our trucks back then were plastered with radiation stickers. I see they don’t advertise anymore, but still the rigs are easily identified.
