A-TACS LE: Urban Pattern

http://www.a-tacs.com/2013/01/introducing-new-a-tacs-le-camo/

I don’t like it personally. I think their AU pattern would blend better in urban environments. Just seems kind of tacticool to me.

Underwhelmed, myself with this one. I would have thought they’d have made an effort (like their other promo shots) to show it ‘working’. This one clearly doesn’t.

A Winter pattern would be nice.

This just looks like an Atacs version of that awful blue digi US Navy uniform

It should be a blend of grays I think.

I’m thinking that the purpose of this pattern is to provide a camouflage that’s more in line with existing L/E nylon gear, yet still maintains a (somewhat) more recognizable police appearance due to the colors used. Before you say it, subdued shoulder patches and “POLICE” placards aren’t always noticed.

For teams or elements using blue or black uniforms, this gives them a bit more camouflage, maintains a quasi-traditional appearance, and doesn’t require swapping out nylon gear.

There’s some logic behind this, with regards to compromising between concealment and better recognition as police (becoming more of an issue), and looking less like our military in appearance. But, I’m not quite sold on it yet.

It’ll be good for gun confiscation thugs when the go door to door.

 :sarcastic:

DING!

“A-TACS LE Camo was developed to work with variable combinations of black or blue nylon gear and other equipment allowing municipalities and departments the option to easily upgrade their kit on an “as needed” basis.”

Definitely blends in more with gear than it does any actual urban environment. Too blue to be really effective.

I wear a black armor carrier. I would love multicam but its unfortunately a mo go. I could probably swing some atacs LE which would help break up my all black carrier.

Kinda looks very GI Joe-ish to me. But it does work well with blues and grays.

This. It’s like a futuristic movie costume.

But I understand now what they were going for: a police uniform that blends well with black and blue gear.

I’d buy a winter version in a heart beat. They could call it A-TACS AS (Arctic/Snow)

OR

A-TACS AH. (Arctic/Hoth)

It’s not camo.
It’s not cop.
I don’t get it.

The more I look at stuff like that, the more I like plain old OD or gray, with accents for particular A/O or call-out.

It’s kind of got a Harry Potter Mystical Forest type vibe to it.

I’ve been very fond of the A-Tacs products before, but this one, like others have stated is a bit of a miss for me. It’s very urban specific and a bit futuristic to me.

And here I thought the ‘ACU’ way of thinking wouldn’t ever make it to the LE world…

Mall Ninja Crack

Looks like something out of Metal Gear Solid.

Meh. I think it looks ooooookay, but not really a ‘camo’ pattern. When I was was on our tac unit, we had a bunch of different bdu’s. Basic black, a set of woodlands that we wore for wooded area ops, and my personal favorite, 5.11 tac grey. They looked really good under the black tac gear, and didn’t look all “jack-booted thuggy”. In my experience, unless your city has gone the way of Beirut (or Detroit,) there’s not a whole lot of effective usage of camo for sneaking up on a crack house when twenty guys jump out of the back of a Bearcat.

That’s not true. The MGS camos were usually based after real camo patters.
