What is it, looks big 50 cal something? 51? is it Russian?
Hehe… it’s a 20mm Solothurn S-18/1000 antitank cannon. That’s the muzzle you’re looking at, before the brake is screwed on. Makes a .50 look rather…inadequate. Hang on, I’ll take a pic of one of the rounds.

.
Whatcha gonna use on it…an Aimpoint or an EOTech? ![]()
.
Has an integral scope and BUIS. Here’s a side view from IMFDB - I’ll get some detail pics up tomorrow taken with a real camera.

At 2142HRS you told us it was a surprise for tomorrow. At 2200HRS you told us what it is. You just couldn’t hold back could you? Very nice though. I hope I’m on your side!!
Oh my gosh that reminds me of a book I once read. ![]()
When i saw the round to your 1911 i was like “Yup that’s defiantly something that should be shot out a plane. 20mm lol.”
Aaah…fuck it, no, I couldn’t.
Vital statistics:
The weapon fires a (roughly) 4000 grain projectile (HEI, HE-AP, HE-APT) to a mv of 2400 fps for a muzzle energy of something around 55,000 foot-pounds. It will penetrate 35mm of RHA at 300 meters.
Yup, same gun…though I don’t remember if his was an S-18/100 or an S-18/1000.
Are you set up to reload 20mm?
Solothurns are just damn cool.

Yes. OWS Rock Crusher press, and new brass and fresh US 20mm projectiles turned to the proper diameter.
Plus a couple hundred 1941 Finnish APIT factory rounds. ![]()
One hell of a boom stick.
Please get this baby on video.
+1 for video
I think you may need to change your screen name. ![]()
pshaw, my good man. Someone will make a can for it.
How obtainable are the rounds for that beast?
It makes me think of the movie “The Jackall”!
Unintended Consequences by John Ross - good read…
Doesn’t owning one of those require a DD transfer? I shudder to think of the costs of purchase, licensing and initial ammo purchase.
