I have one AR with a magpul handgrip that I’ve installed a short rail section to for my Grip-Pod. So, can I also attach a short rail section to my other AR that has a standard A2 mid-length handgrip? Is an adapter needed?
Not really sure I am following you but if you are asking how to attach a section of rail to the original A2 handguards you will probably have to drill them. I believe there is companies the make them for the handguard and you have to remove the heat shield.
Yes, that’s what I’m wanting to do. Since the A2 handguard has holes thru both the plastic and the heat shield inside, I would think someone makes a rail that will bolt thru that hole. I just don’t know where to find one.
The walmart in my area sells a rail adapter for stock handguards. Made by blackhawk and look to be good quality. I bought them for my A2 but the nuts require you to either remove the lower heatshield or modify it. They are tapered, so they run parallel to the bore and cost about $30 for two rails. Might want to check to see if they carry them where you live.
Google a2 handguard rails there are companies that carry them they have a few different options for the price it may be easier to switch to MOE and grab the rail. I havent penciled it out.
Yes. Midwest Industries makes multiple rails of varying lengths that will bolt to standard hand guards for you to mount accessories to. I’ve got a couple laying around somewhere I think.
I’ll PM you.
GG&G makes a rail section designed for the oval handguards. It works very well, but will require drilling through the handguard plastic.
That looks like exactly what I need but their description says that “no alteration of the grip is necessary” Have you used this before?
