Well, I had to much time on my hands tonight so I took apart my SCAR stock. The main reason I did it was to try to find a way to get a bit of the slop out and quite it down abit in the noise area. All the SCARs Ive held rattle a lot in the stock. Anyway I thought I would show what the stock is all about and what I did to help the play and noise. For now I found a REALLY simple way to quite the stock a bit (well two ways really). First thing I did was use very heavy grease and fill the actual collapsing mechanism (only the inner part in pic#3), packed like a wheel bearing. I figured it might get dirty but the bolt is lubed and is out in the open and the stock covers all the grease and wont effect rifle function even if it does get dirty. The second thing I did was shim the inner key way and the push button for adjusting the LOP. I used suspension shock shims and got ALL the slop out of the back end of the stock and the button still moves freely. These two things REALLY toned down the stock. It doenst make a 1/4 of the noise it use to. Its almost quite now! Not to mention no in/out/up/down play at all. Anyway, i thought you SCAR guys might try this out if the stock is a bit noisy for your tasteā¦
