I’m proposing this as a thread where you can share your great find which may or may not be a firearm. I’ll start:
I found this old vise, broken and laying in the rocks of a switchyard. Evidently some technician had broken the nut then unbolted the vise from his bumper and let it drop. I rescued it, bought a new nut and pipe jaw, painted it an put it to work. I’ve got about $150 and four hours in it. The table it is mounted on I made from 1/4 plate and 4 inch tubing.

I put together this LMT/Vltor 10.5" upper complete with an extended-latch charging handle and a Colt BCG for $450 this past summer.
I use glass syringes for handling various liquids and greases including bore cleaning solvents that will destroy many metals and elastomers. They are quite expensive but can be had from eBay for a reasonable price. 2 ml is a good size for cleaning solvents, 5 ml for lubricants and greases and 50 ml and larger for automotive and small engine work. Needles can be had from McMaster. The fitting which locks with a quarter turn is called “Luer lock” and is desirable. Valves are also available and are good for lubricants but are not needed for greases or wanted for solvents which should be kept in the original bottle. 10 gauge needles are good for greases, 18 to 20 for solvents and 13 to 15 for oils, use 4 inch needles for putting bore stuff into bores, 2-1/2 inch otherwise. Here I have a 5 ml loaded with grease (black), a 5 ml with a valve for oil (red) and a 2 ml with bore cleaner (blue) along with some spares. They do break.
