What better way to avoid the shopping throngs than to spend the day at the gun range zeroing two new builds and my SA58 FAL that I just put my TA11-D ACOG on? I must have been the oddball as I was the only one there… Yes, it was cold in the upper 40’s, overcast and threats of rain, but still… Atleast there was VERY LITTLE WIND! ![]()
I just recently put these two back together after swapping around some parts from a Sabre mid-length upper I bought from Talon Arms. The range is part of the excellent facilities of the Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club in Charlottesville, VA. It is only 5 miles as a bird flies from me, so I consider myself fortunate…

New build with old & new parts: new Sabre upper but Sabre upper receiver was swapped out for my Colt M4, added a MI non-FF rail as well…

SPR-type Sabre build: Swapped the Ameetec upper for the M4-ramped Sabre upper parted out from the above build, mated to the very accurate Sabre 18" SS, fluted, middy barrel, with my Nightforce 2.5-10 NXS nested in the Larue mount… A sweet shooter. Far better than my skills…

MK262 Mod1 “seconds” 100 yard results from the Sabre SPR… Expensive ammo but it truly performs… I zero the SPR for MK262 (SHTF ammo) and then shoot reloads I have made that come very close to the MK262 POI, it is too expensive to do otherwise…

The disappointing results for the 75g TAP FPD… ![]()

This is why we all love XM193! Almost as accurate as 75g TAP…

By the time I got to the FAL I was rushing for time as the sun was dropping fast, so I didn’t take any pics… Time flies when you are at the range doing something you enjoy… So here is an older photo of the FAL…

Just thought I would share my great Saturday…
I even got over 1k of once-fired NICKEL-PLATED Lake City brass from all the Federal Tactical ammo the local LE must have used up earlier in the week. They even put them in a bucket for me! They sure do look pretty shined up… My new BLING reloads…
