I was in Iraq when the Germans sent a Helicopter/Arcraft Carrier to support. When it got there it didn’t work , so we paid to fix it. When it was finished being repaired the Germans wanted us to give them the Helicopters since.

The UK, like all euro nations, depends on the US to cover their essential defense while they funnel huge amount of money into social programs for people that don’t work, add nothing to their nation, actively working against their nation, etc. Many of whom didn’t even pay their tiny share of NATO membership. Invasion of Ukraine, and current US POTUS demanding euro nations at least pay their NATO commitments, has rewaken some nations to the fact Russia is not their friend, and the US no longer want to be endless world police and cash source. The UK, at one time the most powerful navy and nation on earth, is a shadow of its former self. I hope it’s not too late for the UK to rebuild itself to the powerful and productive nation.

Why does everyone think our allies have to look just like us? That’s along the same lines of nation building idiocy that lead to over 20 years of GWOT with a largely failed legacy. Obviously NATO countries need to live up to the agreement and be held accountable if not. But dissolving NATO and/or expecting every country that were allies with to be a place that we’d want to live in is ridiculous. Be happy that we’re not Britain while also being happy that they’ll (presumably) fight if article V is invoked. It’s not that hard.

They gave up having a Navy to Fund Social Programs and Illeagle Aliens.
They will not fight under Article V conditions. None of them will, at least not the larger nations in Western Europe.
All of NATO outside of the United States is incapable of fielding a credible Army, Navy, or Air Force.
Worse yet, none of them are even trying except maybe Poland, Lithuania, and Estonia. It would be one thing if our NATO allies were putting in some effort to maintain credible military readiness, but most of them stopped bothering 30 years ago.
NATO is now meaningless, and the Europeans are at fault.
We shouldn’t bother saving them, and if we do at some point we should absolutely take their lands and extract payment of their debts in American blood and treasure from their weak feckless populations. I would be happy to change my opinion if they actually bothered to sack up and spend their money on defense and maintaining a credible military force.
