I bought this beautifull Colt .455 at the Great Falls show last weekend and will display it as shown… I have had a couple before, however this one is all correct and original and the bore is perfect!!!

So, I’m guessing .455 Eley Automatic is one caliber Fiocchi probably doesn’t load…
I don’t believe that anyone loads the auto version and original surplus ammo is VERY EXPENSIVE…----:rolleyes:

Between 1917 and 1919, Colt delivered 10,500 of the .455 pistols to the Royal Air Force. I have no history on this one, however it is very rare to find one in this condition. Most were stamped RAF or R.A.F. on the left side of the frame above the trigger guard. They were used in WW I and WW II and most were refinished… This one has a near perfect bore, which is even more rare!!!

I hope the Brit who was issued that, realized how lucky he was, considering some of the other possibilities at the time.
Probably too late in the war for it to have been used air to air, but who knows what stories it could tell if it could talk?

Very nice. .455 Eley is a caliber that I am not familiar with. There has to be some interesting history on that orphan caliber.

On the pic showing the right side of the pistol, above the triggerguard, is that a small stamp saying “not english made”?
If it will accept a 45 ACP magazine you could have an ACP barrel fitted then we could shoot it!:D:D (Ducks and runs) Fine looking piece of plunder there.
