I’m looking for recommendations for a 1,000 round case sized purchase of 9mm ammo to be used at the range only please. I only want to buy stuff without misfires/problems.

I already have self defense ammo on hand, Speer Gold Dot 124 gr. +P.

I had great luck with the RWS ammo from Weapons World at 189 a case + $10 shipping. I shot 1000 rounds of it in my M&P FS and Compact with zero issues.

Buy the cheapest brass ammo you can find.

There is no dangerous or malfunction prone new production brass ammo in my opinion.

Some may be dirtier or very slightly less accurate but its all good.

Cabellas sells 9mm Sellier & Bellot Police ammo for like under $250. It’s a solid fmj practice round, and I love it. No problems ever. It is, however, a CIP spec ammo so its pretty hot. 115gr at like 1300+. It’s a nice round though, very clean, and good brass.

I am a big fan of the Geco 124gr stuff. I’m a little tight on cash so my last case was Wolf 115gr bullshit but I’ll probably spring for get Geco next time, it’s priced right and is really cheap for how clean and zippy it is.

I recently purchased a case of Magtech 124 gr FMJ. I am about half-way through it right now, and have been very pleased. It ejects noticibly stronger than WWB and S&B 115 GR FMJ out of my G19. It seems a lot cleaner too. I paid $250/1000 locally.

I would also recommend this 9mm from RWS it very good stuff and my Glocks never had a problem with it.

Has anyone used the Aguila 9mm ammo in 124 gr. FMJ?

I have used the Aguila 9mm from AIMSurplus.
I bought 500rds and shot 400 of them

Shot fine and zero malfunctions, but its a bit dirtier than WWB or PMC
I noticed more brass shavings (possibly from the primer) inside my M&P9

Its gtg in my opinion, but I will only buy it if its the cheapest around, not going out of my way to get it.

BTW, The case of the 9mm has a cannelure to help discourage bullet setback I guess.
I asked around and everyone said its fine to reload ( look closely at the picture on AIM’s website to see it)

I would have no problem using it, but that RWS has a bi-metal jacket like Russian ammo.

I shoot Tula for my plinking. Never have had a mis-fire from their 9mm. (Have had a couple from .223Rem and 7.62x39mm, but that may have been my fault for storage conditions in part.)

Certainly beats the socks off of Winchester White Box.

Edit: But the RWS for about $200 per 1000 shipped- I’d go for that.

Right now I’m shooting Aguila 124 FMJ from my Glock 17’s w/o issue.

Just finished 2,000 rds of S&B 115 grain FMJ with no issues as well.

Big +1 on RWS/GECO training fodder as well.

I use PMC 115gr from PSA. 5k so far in my G17 with no issues. Some folks don’t like PMC but at $200 for 1000 on the range is just fine.

When I read the thread title, a different thought entered my mind. Not the “cheapest” but the “best for me”.

I shoot 147 9mm from Atlanta Arms pretty much exclusively. Why? Low recoil. This is not about any perception of speed, but instead one of fatigue over long(er) range sessions. I have been in classes where we shot 1k rounds in a day, and at shorter range sessions that were the equivalent pace. My arm pays for that, and the lower the recoil the longer I can shoot better.
