The VLTOR/BCM A5 system works well as the A5 buffer is the same length as a standard buffer and the spacer! We use the SpringCO “green” spring for the A5 system in our 9mm builds.
Thanks Grant. Five bucks is a great price for the spacer. I’ve used quarters before but the spacer is a better idea. Do you use a Green Spring Co Carbine or A5 Spring with the A5 buffer?
Do you have the BCM KMR rail covers? I didn’t see them in your web site. I’d like to get them with the spacer.
He is definitely talking about a carbine RE. I first used a V5 A5 intermediate RE and the Voltor A5 standard buffer and it didn’t work. I added six or seven quarters, can’t remember, and it worked.
I was wrong. Grant was using an A5 RE. I used the A5 buffer and rifle spring in a carbine RE. It worked well for me.
I will try the Voltor A5 buffer and the rifle spring that came with it at the range tomorrow. I will also try the ST9-X and Coltor with the standard spring.
Now I want to go shooting but I can’t today! The rifle spring and A5 went into the carbine buffer fine. It’s now mocking me. Teasing me because I have to work all day! :sarcastic:
I use the A5 Green buffer spring with the A5 receiver extension and A5 buffer. You could probably use this A5 spring and A5 buffer in a standard CAR receiver extension, but I have not tested that setup yet. Probably the more optimal setup would be the A5 buffer (heaviest one made) with a SpringCO red or blue CS CAR spring.
I decided to go with a Blitzkreig Hydrolic buffer and JP 10 spring for my current build to circumvent any possible issues related to the buffer. I havent shot it yet and just waiting on my stamp now.
I’m using a rifle length Action Spring and a RRA 9mm Buffer, with a home made buffer spacer similar to the the Spikes. It ran alright without the spacer, but it did break a hammer pin. So I pit the spacer in to see if it made any difference. So far no difference, but I do have extra pins and a KNS pin set, just in case.
I just put a Colt 9mm buffer and Colt spacer into my 9mm pistol. I hope to try it tomorrow. The BCM carbine spring, Colt buffer & spacer were purchased from G&R. I wanted a Wolf extra power carbine spring but didn’t see one in stock.
