Trying to find an everyday pack that can carry a pistol couple of mags and other gear (multi tool, fire starter, duct tape, snivel etc…
I am currently looking at the kifaru scout and MR daypack “lid”. It looks like the blue force gear DAP packs are gone…which would have been perfect for everyday use and day hike.
Open to suggestions. I wold prefer more of urban color but black and foliage is ok.
I’m picking up a Stealth Operator Pack in grey as soon as they are available again. At 887.5 ci it is just shy of your requirements but worth a look nonetheless.
interesting you mention the BFS DAP pack is gone because that is what I was going to recommend. I have one in urban gold and it looks like a bag that my kids or wife would carry. the only problem with this is the dappers are a little expensive to fully outfit the kit the way I want to and so it hasn’t gotten much use.
I never gave a thought to selling it but pm me if you’re interested in it. I might be persuaded to let it find a new home…
I have been looking for a good pack which is build for storing a halved M-4 style AR and some magazines for when I’M traveling. It also has to be able to hold a two 1 liter bottles of water and a package of 3600 calorie survival bars and a small GPS.
Phila PD, see my post above. Noveske (First Spear), Blue Force Gear, and 5.11 make some very nice packs. I choose the Eberlestock in part due to it have several compartments for storing items such as you listed above. The larger Secret Weapon bag holds a 16" with plenty of extra room (taken down into upper and lower). The smaller Cherry Bomb will barely hold a 14.5" (with pinned comp). Hope this helps!
PM me if you would like pics of gear in bag to get size idea.
Eagle AIII-Large will hold an assembled 11.5" SBR and shorter barrels, or a 16" upper when removed from the lower. I use these extremely well built packs when traveling. Pictured is a BCM 11.5" SBR with mag inserted, ready to deploy. Front pocket contains a US Peacekeeper Rapid Deployment pack. There is room enough remaining for overnight clothing and hygiene if needed, as well as a hydration sleeve for a bladder and routing for hose.
This has passed unnoticed in some pretty non-permissive environments.
Lots of good suggestions but we may be getting a bit off track. I want to stay in the 900-1500 at most size range. Packing an sbr or unpinned 16" is nice but that’s more than I’m looking to haul around. I should have clarified I need enough pack for a handgun extra mags and other small items (multi tool, fire starter, tape, cord, phone, keys, etc…)
Thanks for the suggestions, sorry for the Hi-Jack of the thread but I didn’t want to open another thread when the rifle pack question basically falls into the same theme as a pistol pack.
I was thinking someone made a custom pocketed pack designed for a halved M4 profile AR which has enough padding to prevent the upper and lower from bashing each other during carry but allows quick extraction and a little additional space for some gear.
What’s old is new. Found this in my storage room. Camelback mule I bought when biked to work.
Small pocket attached to a medium pocket. In between the medium pocket and the main pocket are two mesh storage areas that can be cinched down by the bungee. Behind the main storage pocket is the 100oz water storage area, perfect place to slide a pistol. It’s secured by Velcro.
