I have a 870 that needs a rear aperture sight. I replaced the barrel that now has a dovetail front sight like on the Magpul Edition 870s. So now I need a rear aperture that is the correct height with the front dovetail.
Who knows of sights that will line up correctly?
I’ve seen Spitfire offer a rear sight that also has a rail.
XS sights also offers a rear sight.
Both Spitfire and XS has their sights protected by a shroud which I definitely like. But again, don’t know if they’ll match the correct height.
I know I can get the same sight rail like on the Magpul 870 shotguns but am looking for a sight with the shrouds to protect the rear aperture.

Have you thought about what those tall sights are going to your cheek weld? One reason why I don’t recommend sights on anything other than purpose built shotguns.
GH41 - I don’t have ghost rings on any of my shotguns, don’t see the need. A lot of people do. I train police officers and a bunch of them use ghost rings on shotguns - primarily they don’t have trouble because most weren’t true shotgunners of the upland bird or trap and skeet variety.
Considering that the AR stock is straight-line from the bore, and the shotgun has drop, the cheek weld is not astoundingly different.
As I said, I don’t use them on my shotguns, even for slugs - but I work with a lot of folks who do - Mossberg made sure of that.
I never wanted rifle sights on my shotgun, only ever wanted a fiber optic bead. I bought a used 870 Tactical for dirt cheap as a project. The 870 needed a new barrel due to rusting. So it being a Tactical model, barrels are very limited. I wanted one with threaded chokes also. So I now have a barrel with a dovetail front rifle sight and am unable to remove it. I was told by several people that I would not be able to remove the front sight since it’s a threaded barrel and the barrel is very thin in that specific area of the sight.
That leads me to my current issue. I’m not concerned about having rifle sights since it’s what we use in our Dept.
You and I may be the only two people around here who understand that a shotgun is better pointed than aimed if the gun fits. We look at the target not the rib, beads or sights. In your opinion as a LEO trainer do you believe a student with no shotgun experience can be trained to hit a target faster with a sight than a bead? I don’t.
I agree - if the shooter mounts the shotgun properly and the shotgun is even close to fitting the shooter. Now if they aren’t going to listen, then they need sights - LOL.
