hey, i’m new to this site and to building guns. i’m starting my first SBR project and was wondering if anyone makes a 8.5-9.5" barrel for less than $300 that is decent?
That is a slightly odd range for barrel length so Im not sure how many you will find. Maybe not odd but its not really standard. The more common ones are 7.5", 10.5", 11.5" and 12.5". They run these as an option once a year I believe and because of that it probably costs a little more.
Also, is this a 5.56 build or 6.8? Many would say if you want to go that short, you may want to look at the 6.8 due to better ballistics out of that length barrel.

Not sure if you are set on that length or what but again many here would advocate a barrel no less than 10.3" for reliability and lethality. A 10" is still extremely handy and unless you have the need to conceal the weapon for PSD or something anything shorter is considered by many to be a range toy.
i’m not set on the length, the 10.5 will do fine. i wanted to use the Vltor CASV with a suppressor and have minimal barrel exposed…just a looks thing. thanks for the reply.

i saw that… it’s actually what got me interested. could an adjustable gas block be used instead of a barrel with a smaller gas port? would it even fit under the handguard?
