700yd max AR (Recon, Recce, SPR, whatever)

I’m rearranging my rifles a bit and struggling with an optic choice. The rifle in question is a Daniel Defense 16" CHF barrel, mid-gassed. It’s purpose will be precision(ish) shooting out to 700yds. If it will shoot MOA out to that distance, I’ll be happy. I am taking the Aimpoint off this rifle and putting it on my new MK18, so speed and CQB are covered there, however, I want variable magnification so that if I needed to use this rifle for a short(ish) range shot (50yds+) I could.

I want turrents and a BDC turret would be preferable. I also want a ranging reticle.

Overall budget is $450, or trade for an Aimpoint 3X w/Larue flip.

So far, the Leupold Mark AR 3-9x40 with mil-dot reticle looks the best. It has a 223 bdc cam from the factory, and custom turrets are available.

I would think any 3-9 with BDC would suite you fine. Bushy, Nikon…
You will have more fun with the gun with the optic, good choice.

Man, if you could throw that budget out the window and save some more, the Nightforce 2.5-10x32 with one go their Velocity reticles sounds almost perfect for your situation. BDC reticle, although not ranging, but with turrets, stuff like zero stop, etc…
