I believe they arrested all of them. The attackers names were posted all over youtube, even some facebook profiles. It would be just a matter of time before they were caught. Some dumb girl was arrested too, she was th one recording it.

The fact of the matter is that home-boy was not going to shoot his way out of this. Most people have Walter Mitty fantasies about how they will react when ‘the shit goes down.’
However, given the rash of flash mobs and other such attacks over the years, I will offer some real advice from a veteran street fighter. First, avoid finding yourself in these situations. Home-boy was walking in the alley - not really the best place to hide if you are looking to not get attacked. In general, try not to look like a victim or an easy mark. Either be the grey man or look like you might be more trouble than you are worth. Don’t let your pride get you into something you are not mentally, physically, and legally prepared to finish. If you come to blows, single out one target (preferably the leader) - and kill him. No, I don’t mean whip his ass, I mean stop his breathing and heart rate. If you do not how to do this with your bare hands you may want to study up on the subject.
I agree with you. However, for the Asian dude who obviously can’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag it was a pretty rough situation to be in. Those kicks to the face and head can lead to traumatic brain injury that may impact him for the rest of his life. I posted it mostly as an example as something like this can be much, much worse.

I was in a similar situation when I was younger and was fortunate enough to pretty much walk away unscathed. I’ll save the details but even as a young lad I was quite a bit larger than the individuals (presumably the leaders of the cowards) and dispatched of the first couple that lead the charge at me and the others ran scared. Had the group been more prepared, better fighters or more determined I would have likely been in trouble. Looking back, I most certainly shouldn’t have been where I was, when I was there and by myself.

Not always. Most criminals are criminals of opportunity and will take advantage of something that looks like low fruit but not always someone who ‘looks weak or soft’ because strength can come in numbers. Simply looking tough will not always be enough. Not to mention the hardened criminals who create their own opportunity.
The way a person looks to others (especially criminals) will be the deciding factor in most situations. In my experience it is the vast majority of robbery victims who are “sheep” in the wolves lair (location). While I will agree that this is not always the case, situations as those in the video in this thread show a group of cowards who would otherwise not have done much by themselves.
That has been my experience. In most cases criminals are looking for scores not problems. While many enjoy the experience of dominating their victim and feeling stronger, they are mostly looking for fast and easy success.
You almost never see these kinds of guys looking for a challenge or any kind of a fair fight. Scumbags usually act like scumbags.

Iunno the answer to that. If you want fairness and strict enforcement it creates bureacracy and rules and a system with inertia. A lot of people on this forum subscribe to laisez faire capitalism/politics. A lot if frontier justice is mob justice, communal justice. Its the age old balance; if you have a justice system that is rigorous you run into independant rights vs enforcement expedience; if you have communal justice it comes down to lack of enforcement vs dirty justice.
In the end youre just balancing the same stuff… Just on a different stage.
