I’m thinking about putting an Insight MRDS on my AUG A3, and is trying to decide between 3.5 and 7 MOA. I’m primarily using the rifle for CQB and shooting under 200yds. Is the 7 MOA ok for this purpose, or is it going to be too big? What about dot acquisation? Is there a dramatic difference between the 3.5 and 7 MOA?
MOA for dot scopes just dictates the dot size at 100yds so you have a 3.5 dot scope that means your dot is covering 3.5" at 100yds and 7moa translates to your dot covering 7" of your target at 100yds.
Both should accomplish its intended purpose for CQB but for more accurate shots past 100yds you might want a smaller reticle ie. the 3.5MOA
Its more or less up to you to decide which suits your intended purpose
I have a 7.0 MOA Docter on my TA01-ECOS. Within 50 yards it fares well. At 100 yards however, it covers too much target to shoot for ‘target accuracy.’ Personally, I’d opt for the 3.5 MOA. YMMV!
