I’am looking to do this to my AR 5.56 so that when I go to the range I can carry just the upper vs. 2 complete weapons, and then sell my Norinco NHM 91, What I’m asking is who has done this and how well does the combloc ammo work after switching the uppers, also what are the pro’s and con’s of doing this, all info is greatly appreciated, thanks. If I missed anything please let m know also!

Only bad thing is there is only one company making mags for it(that I know of) and from what I have heard on here as well as the other AR site is that the magazines are not reliable.
Same issue with 5.45
I have also have heard this, but thought they had this issue ironed out, if not why in the world would these differnt Co’s continue making the upper if you can’t feed them, because it is definately bad PR to make a product half-ass, period!!

I slapped a stock Colt 7.62x39 upper on a stock RRA lower, and have had no issues with my C-Products magazines through a couple hundred rounds. Lucky, I guess, but such a low round count is not much of a test. I have only fired brass-cased, non-lacquered, non-corrosive ammo thus far. Once I get done with a couple of other “projects” I have going, I plan to get back to testing and modding this rifle to serve as a backup SHTF gun.
You can easily do a 7.62x39 upper on an AR15 lower. My recommendation though is to use a Model 1 Sales 7.62x39 enhanced firing pin. It protrudes past the bolt face approximately an additional .005" to accomodate those recessed primers. You might want a slightly stronger hammer spring. The CProd magazines that look like AK mags are OK, but they’re not PMags. I’ve had some that just plain wouldn’t feed. I load them to 25rds. 25rds of 123gr weighs a whole lot more than 30 of 75gr 223. You can get a complete upper from Model 1 Sales for $500 with BCG and CH. No buffer changes needed either.
You might need to shorten the tail of the bolt when using a standard firing pin. If you use a standard firing pin, you probly need to modify it to protrude farther, or buy the Model 1 extended version.
Be sure to get an upper with extended feed ramps.

If it is not a plug ‘n’ play deal, I would just walk on by, but that is me!!

Thats kinda the problem with the 7.62x39 stuff right now. You may have to massage it to get it running perfect.

I have had luck with the old Franken mags - never can load anything to capacity. No issues with the C-Products but their are some enhanced followers folks make.
I had some franken mags and they worked fine but were ugly. Sold them when the c prod mags came out.

can we use adams arms or osprey defense ops gas piston on building 762 upper? like with m1sales barrell?
I would think so. I know the CMMG kit has been used on a 7.62x39 build.
Brick
thanks bro… im planning on building an upper with this caliber… 7.62… are the mags issue really been resolved already?
Mine work well. They are the c-products.

Good to know c products finally started making those magazines. I wanted to build a 7.62 ar years ago but backed out because of the avalible magazines.
Same here.
