7.62x39 AR15

If you want troubleshooting help, you need to be MUCH more specific.

When you say it “won’t do” something, you need to better explain the failure.
Is it short stroking or over gassed?
Rough chamber or not enough lubrication?
Gas leak or undersized gas port?
Mis-aligned barrel nut causing drag on the carrier at lockup?

Read through my “how it works” thread for a little background.

The lack of good quality 7.62x39 mags is the main reason that they are not more popular in AR type rifles.

I do not know what the original poster is asking either. But this subject has been coming up a lot lately. I too am getting interested in the 7.62x39 AR possibilities. If the mag issue can be resolved (CP supposedly is shipping 30 rounders now but need to hear how they perform). Armalite is now selling a mid length chrome lined and bore 7.62x39 carbine that does have my interest. I have often heard about bolt breakage but cannot find much info on the matter that confirm they broke more than 5.56 bolts. The cartridge is lower pressure than 5.56 right? So why would this be occuring? I am interested in seeing reports from the range/field with new Armalite. All the AK talk for the round doesn’t do much for me as I am not very interested in adapting to another weapon system. The 7.62x39 ammo cost is part of my interest. Admittedly the trajectory is like a rainbow dropping about 5 inches at 200 yards and 21 at 300 with a 50 yard zero. But for training, if reliable with high capacity magazines, it seems viable. I would like to learn more about the round and various projectiles available. For LE engagement distances, it seems like something to think about.
