~7.5lbs 14.5 mid LW, 13" VTAC

Meat:

DD CHF LW 14.5 middy
ST Dynacomp pinned
Troy VTAC 13"
DD Fixed Front
X300
Larue handstop @ 120* / Stubby MOE bolted to rail
Aimpoint R1 / LRP mount

Last weighed w/ scoutlight it was ~7.5lbs, x300 should take off a few oz.
Handstop @ 120* feels solid, I ground down a flat spot on the tab to act as an small barricade support, it works well for now. Positioning of the handstop provides good feel for my support hand.

Similar 5.45 upper on the way.

Nice build Anto. Looks like a pretty no nonsense rifle to me.

This is exactly what I want to build with the exception of maybe different internal parts, etc.

What upper did you use and what did you do to get rid of the FSA on the barrel?

Upper was from the smartgunner deal, it’s a Daniel Defense upper that I gunkoted FDE in a toaster oven.
Spikes .625 gas block, BCM BCG, Tubbs CS spring, T2 buffer. Shoots great, very little recoil and no FTE/shortstroking with factory loads. With wolf I switch to a std carbine spring. We’ll see how the spring/buffer combo runs on 5.45

Awesome, thanks for the reply.

anto very nice rifle. I have the same setup, 13" VTAC on a 14.5 DD middy. Really good balance for this combo. Recently ran this in a two day course and I was pleasantly surprised with how well I liked the overall length and recoil of this setup. SmartGunner deal here as well.

I’ve been looking at those smartgunner deals and they are pretty nice. Should I opt for a Battle Comp over a Yankee Hill FS/Comp?

For follow-up shots, my Battle Comp has been great at keeping my rifle very flat. anto how has your ST Dynacomp performed?

that is a nice build!

Dynacomp works fine. I thought it had an expansion chamber like the BC but it’s the diameter of the barrel threads throughout the comp. I get a small fireball with 5.56, .223 nothing.
