6920 Carrier Upgrade

Bought a 6920 right after the end of the ban that’s been sitting in my safe for 2 and a half years. It’s never been fired as I usually take my LMTs to the range.

Thought about taking it out and breaking it in but had a quick question. The bolt carrier is one of the ridiculous half circle carriers. I’d like to replace this with an M-16 carrier before I start shooting it Thought about going with the FN carrier from Grant since Colt carriers are difficult to find at a reasonable price. Are the FN carriers on par with Colt carriers? I’m assuming they are since FN is under contract with the mil. Also, will the FN carrier work fine with the existing Colt bolt/firing pin?

Your bolt will work with any M16 carrier. I’d get one from any of these manufacturers. Colt, LMT, BCM, ‘FN contracted’, CMT (in that order, my opinion)

Is the firing pin completely shrouded? If so, its not that ridiculous, and is worth more new or used. You can sell it and buy a M16 carrier with the cash.

If it isn’t shrouded, a dealer along the way probably swapped it out with a civi carrier hoping the customer wouldn’t know the difference.
