I’m in the market for a 65" LED TV. I keep looking online and I cant decide on what brand, features, and resolution to look for.
Does anyone here know alot about LED tv’s, and can direct me to any good deals online?
I have a 55" Samsung 6000 series TV that I really like. Great picture, really sharp, great colors, 3D, thinner than a Ukranian fashion model.
I got mine for a deep discount by buying last year’s model from BestBuy while looking at the high-end units they carry. Still not cheap, but worth it.
since im in the market for a house…my first. ive also been shopping for the single most important item for the home besides a gun safe and an AA-12, the TV, of course. I have a 37in Sammy 'A550 series and am thrilled with the picture. Ive been eyeballing the Sammy LEDs and Sony Bravias in LED. I would be inclined to nudge you toward the good Korean. Of the ones I have looked at, they seem the most attractive…price is cheaper than Sony, screen is on par, if not a little bit better than the XBR screens, and that clear trim is kinda cool, it brings out the wall behind it and looks like the TV should be there. Also, Sharp’s Quattron TVs seem quite nifty, they are a little cheaper and I havent found a reason to write them off my short list.

I have the same TV as F2S except mine is not 3D. I also got mine at BB when they were clearing out last years model. The difference between mine and this years model? The style of the base.
Because you are a member of this forum I am going to assume you would want to do a lot of research before you spent that much money.

I am a stickler for the best quality picture 1st and foremost. I have yet to see an LCD that is equal to the best plasmas but they are getting very close.
Pioneer stopped making TV’s but their Elite plasma was and still is considered the “Colt LE6920” of HD TV’s.
At 65" you are going to have more selection with LCD’s.

Plasmas look better and are usually cheaper. A quick look at Best Buy shows the nice Panny TC-P65GT30 is $900 cheaper than the cheapest 65" LED they carry.
Buy a Kuro Elite, or a 720 plasma if you’re on a budget. Plasma is where it’s at.
I would not recommend buying a 720p HDTV over 50" unless you are on a severe budget. You CAN see the pixels at that size. Plus 720p’s are very rare birds now.
Plasmas look more natural and film like when watching movies or any other material. They used to be the undisputed heavy weight champs of deep blacks but the new LCD’s are making some serious head way.
I personally would not get hung up in the 3D stuff as that technology with be rapidly changing. My gut feeling is it will go away.
Make sure you do your research and do not listen to the dopes at Best Buy. Most big box store help is as educated as your average gun store putz.
LEDs are sweet but for budgets sake I picked up a plasma. Of course, YMMV, but we scooped a 1080p 50" Panasonic off Craigslist for $425. Only bad thing about Plasmas is they reflect real bad, so if you are planning on putting this opposite a wall of windows…well, it’ll piss you off.
Depends on the plasma and the LCD. There are plenty LCDs with reflective screens.
