I hear dat. I still think the one and only Jerry M hitting a balloon at 1000 yards with a 9mm handgun on his 2d try, the most overall impressive I have ever seen.
Well… technically he hit the target the balloon was taped to, and it popped… but a great shot none the less.
When you use the words “forward observer” in reference to rifle shooting, you know it’s about to get ridiculous.
It’s hard to even contemplate that distance, much less a hit. 3.4 miles? “Smoke 'em if you got 'em, boys. The enemy won’t be here for a few…WTF was that?”
I was looking at the link and still don’t quite understand. Is it a device that gets above the scopes line of sight like a periscope?
Well, at 17 second to Target and 22 shots to hit the target, I suppose it’s of limited utility but as always, pushing the tech to its limits often leads to developments and learnin’

At that range (since you have an FO) might as well put in aiming stakes and have a plotting board!
Its cool and nice to see, but its kinda like us hitting 1,300 yards with 556 BH ammo. Or hitting a 4 inch X6inch plate at 1,300 yards. You throw enough shit against the wall, something will hit. Its still cool and fun, but just for shits and giggles. Very impressive non the less even with a big target.
Mark hit a 1,000 target with iron sights, I would say just as impressive IMHO. Their efforts are still cool, not to be negativo.

You’ll need a 120, probably charge 4. Its past the max range of a 81. I’ll have to see if I can dig out a whiz wheel.

Bob M (RIP) hitting targets at 300 yards with a snub nose and such always lets you know there’s some people with super natural ability with a gun in their hand.
I’m old enough to remember that 3 shots in 12" at 1000 yards was really trick.
