I am making a short barreled 9mm AR. I already have one that sports a 5.5 inch barrel and the muzzle is nearly flush with the front of the rail system. It is reliable, accurate and quiet with my Octane 9. The only down side is that the handguard is really cramped (its 4 inches0. I want to build another short AR but with a longer barrel and a longer handguard. I’m thinking about an 8 inch barrel (I want to keep the subs subsonic).
So if the barrel goes about an inch and a half into the receiver, I’m thinking I need about an 8.5 inch barrel barrel and a 6 inch handguard. Does anyone make a 6 inch handguard? I see 4’s and I see 7s but nothing in between. Does anyone make a 7 or 8 inch handguard that could be cut down?
