Could you ream a SAAMI chamber into the “Murray” chamber?
Correct. Remember, the 6.8 mm was originally developed with the “Murray” type chamber–the poorly conceived Remington SAAMI spec chamber came later.
So a SAAMI chamber CAN be reamed to a Murray? or is your response to the Barret and Kotonics question?
The 6.8spc upper I have from PRI has been flawless with great performance for 2 years. In terms of cost of ammo…the gap has narrowed significantly with the exception of bulk military surplus. A box of Hornady or SSA, which are two types of ammo I shoot, can be had for between $16-$19 per 20/box. The same type of ammo in 5.56 is only a few dollars less based on my latest catalog from MidwayUSA which is my usual place to order ammo. It’s great to have a single rifle/caliber for hunting and SHTF. As far as mags, PRI and C-Products have worked fine for me although the PRI is harder to load due to a stiff spring. I’ve only used 25 rd mags with no ftf from either manufacturer. I second the endorsement of DocGKR advice…he’s a great resource of intelligent 6.8 info.
+1 for Tim Hicks at Ko-Tonics. I had him build me a custom 6.8 upper and I am very satisfied. His customer service is outstanding and he works fast. The improved chamber is also a must, if you have it (and all of Tim’s barrels do) you can shoot any 6.8 ammo. I purchased some of SSA’s combat loaded ammo (110 Pro and 115 OTM) during their November sale at it shoots great.

OK you guys have sold me, im going with kotonics instead of the regular stag upper i was planning on, especially since they have a left-hand conversion available. I’m building a rifle primarily to hunt with, so im planning on going with the kotonics lightweight upper.
Now with this particular upper, would I safely be able to use my registered lightning link for occasional full auto action? Maybe not unloading clip after clip after clip, but could I safely do some?
