Does this caliber uses a standard AR-15 5.56 upper and lower receiver with LPK? Aside from the barrel and mag what else is different parts for this caliber to run it reliably? Any knowledgable experience and feedback or info is much appreciated.

Everything else will be standard.
Add to that muzzle device; most 6.8 barrels will be threaded 5/8x24, vs 1/2x28 for 5.56 barrels.

Unless he buys a Stag barrel. Then he gets a non-standard thread (5/8x36 IIRC) and very limited choices.
