Is the 6.8 Hornady loaded with the 110 Boat Tail Hollow Point part # the 8146 the same one that DocG wrote about as the 110 OTM?
Yes it is.
Thanks Doc.
I read on another forum where Hornady has done away with the crimped primers on the 8146 and is now calling it “match” ammo. Does this change its preferred status as a suitable LE or Military ammo?
Hmmmm
Yes–that would be problematic…
I spoke with Hornady on the phone and they claimed that these primers are crimped. I got a hold of some this ammo how do I know if it is crimped (what do I need to look for)?
Look for a small indented ring around the primer.
The “match” 8146 I bought is not crimped. I am pretty ticked off because I bought 1000 rounds.
I also sent them an email inquiry before I called and received a reply today that they are “currently” crimped. Do you have any pictures? When I was on the phone with Hornady I was told that older batches were not crimped. Could it be an old batch?
Hmmmm. I wonder if they would be willing to answer what lot number started getting the crimp. I have a box coming to see what I get.
