I am close to purchasing a DPMS 6.5 Creedmoor, But before I do I would like to know of any other manufacturers chambering this cartridge. I know about the Ruger, but I’m leaning heavily toward an auto. Who else ?

About a year and a half ago, I ordered a 6.5 Creedmoor, then changed the order to a 260 Remington. DPMS never did deliver because they had problems with the rifles blowing primers. So about 6-7, months ago I changed the order to a 308 and got the rifle within a week. I had waited almost a year for DPMS to get either of the 6.5 mm rifles out, but technical problems prevented delivery.
Are they now actually delivering rifles, or is it the same as when I ordered before…they advertise the item, but don’t really have any for delivery? If they have fixed the problems, I just might buy another rifle from them.
I really like the 6.5mm cartridges, but would still stay with the 260 for a number of reasons. Although I will be one of the first people to admit that there isn’t any significant difference between the performance of the 6.5 Creedmoor, 260 Remington, or the 6.5x47 Lapua.
I’ve seen both 260 and 6.5 CM uppers and complete LR260 rifles. The last I heard was they are waiting on 6.5CM engraved lowers to complete the rifles.
They have kept them as a catalog item for a long time, but haven’t actually been shipping any, unless there has been a recent change. Earlier on, they wouldn’t even sell just the uppers because of the blown primers problem.
I appreciate that they put quality control before sales, and find that kind of ethics both refreshing, and honorable. However, I would really like to buy one of the rifles in one of the 6.5mm cartridges if they are actually shipping them.
Because I already have a DPMS lower all set up, all I need now would be another upper. Have you seen either complete rifles, or just the uppers actually available for purchase recently?
I just bought a LR-308 with the intention of re-barreling it in 6.5 Creedmoor. Fulton Armory has 6.5 Creedmoor barrels for the DPMS receivers in stock, and I have one on the way to me now. If all goes well I’ll be shooting it next weekend.
Northern Firearms had a couple of LR260 rifles on Gunbroker a week or two ago.
Midway has had 6.5 CM and 260 uppers, off and on since December.
Rguns shows they have 20" 6.5CM uppers in stock now.
RRArms has had LR260 rifles, uppers and lowers in stock since December.
FABULOUS! It appears that DPMS fixed the problem of blowing primers. That is great news. Now I will have to figure out which model of 260 Remington to get. I’ll probably end up with a 24 inch barrel, Miculek muzzle brake, ventilated float tube, receiver with shell deflector and ejection port cover. Oh, what fun!
I talked with them about the 6.5cm problems and was told that they had redesigned the chamber.
Did they say anything about the 260 Remington? They were having problems with blown primers in both cartridges. I’m especially interested in the 260 Remington as that was the one I really wanted…
Could a 6.5 Creedmore barrel be easily re-chambered to 260 at a later date?
