Who makes a good tube extension for a 18.5 inch 590A1?
It depends on if you want a +1 or +2 tube extension.
Vang makes a good +1 and I make a good +2 tube ext even with muzzle.

Might as well bump this up instead of starting a new thread about the same thing. I snagged an 18.5" 590A1 last Friday for a good price. I am wondering about a magazine extension. One big problem I can see is that unlike an 870 or something similar, the magazine tube is closed at the front. Does anyone know if I can mill this out and use the Vang +1 or +2 with my gun?

Sorry, it took a bit to find this link with more info,
A 590 should have a cap on the end of the extension. Unscrew it remove barrel and then pop out the little metal retainer. If you have a captive thumb screw on the barrel you should have a 500. If the reciever says 590A1 and it has the thumb screw you have a Frankenstein shotgun. I have a few funtionaly they are fine, but if you paid A1 prices I would be pissed.
Conversion from a 500 to a 590 is no big deal. As for extensions you have a few choices. Max100 makes a well reviewed model, Nordic Comp makes a good one and we just started importing the S&J Hardware versions. I should have a bunch of their plus +2s in late this week or early next.
LOL, yeah it’s a 590A1 bought brand new from a reputable dealer here in Colorado.
I took a second look at the magazine tube and I see the spring retainer. I guess now I just need to pick a company and go with them.
