55 grain or 62 grain?

i have just started reloading and am wondering which is the better to run ,55 grain or 62 grain bullet. i have a stag model 1L with a 16inch 1 and 9 twist barrel. im just wanting to know evryones prefrence. thx guys/gals:D

Probably easier and cheaper to get 55gr projectiles, but either should shoot fine.

As stated above, 62 grains should be no issue for your 1 x 9 beyond the cost to reload as compared to the 55 grain. Get up to 75g-77g and accuracy issues become apparent, however usually at somewhat longer ranges.

Both shoot great from my 1-9 16incher.

55 grain is the only way to go. It’s the beaten path.

I’ve bought ss109s in the past and the have a different ogive. Thus, you have to reset your bullet seating die. NOT worth the ass ache.

Hornady 68gr BTHP would prob. work well for a little heavier load.

I burn through a couple cases (6K each) of Hornady 55s every year. Good bullet.

Thankx everyone for the info. I just came back from the range and the 55 gn sierra blitzkings I loaded worked the best. I also tryed 40 gn hornady’s and they really sucked through my weapon. Again thankx guys
