I’m not sure why but I’m getting a lot of 502 errors. Not sure if it’s the site or on my end. Any advice?
i get it too, using Win 7/Waterfox, only occurred recently, other browsers are fine on same machine

Same here. I can login to the main page but when I click on the link to the forums I get the gateway error. I did make it in by clicking on my PM ling and then going to the forums though.
I use chrome most of the time and every once in a while I get the 502 error with every click.
When that happens I switch to Firefox and everything works fine, just a little slower.
PITA but whatever works I suppose.
Have been receiving many of these the last 2 days with no rhyme or reason. It’s not specific sub-forums here, just random threads I can’t access.
No problems on any other forums I am on, currently using the newest Firefox.
Anyone know how to fix this issue? It’s making me crazy!:jester:

As evidenced by my previous posts, I have periodically been dogged by this issue but have never been able to identify any specific cause. Karma, sun spots, bad juju, swollen prostate … I have not a clue.

It had gotten to the point where I could open maybe one of every 15 threads after hitting “New Posts”. I wasn’t even able to post back in here, but was still getting email notifications.
I cleared the “cookies” on my browser and started getting the 504 Timeout error for the rest of the nite. The next day all was back to normal, so I’d suggest clearing “cookies” and see if that helps out to anyone getting the notice.

The only way I could log in to reply was to click on an email update and get the the thread that way. If I logged in it would bring up the welcome usmcvet thank me for logging in and kick me back to the log in screen. I’m a slow learner at times and would repeat it several times. Then said f it. Then I remembered and went back to an email and clicked on the link to the thread and I was good to go.
This same thing has been happening to me off and on for months now. In the last 3-4 months I have not been able to log in the normal way at all. I’ve had to finaggle my way in one way or another every time.
Yeah I’m just not trying much lately. It’s frustrating.
I’m getting these errors too, but only when using Dolphin HD on my android phone. No problem with the same browser on my tablet, and haven’t run in to it on firefox on my computers. Stock browser on my phone works fine
Gateway 504 time-out errors - I’me getting a shiite-ton of them today and yesterday, between 0730 & 0830 EST.

Getting 502 Bad Gateway with Chrome consistently now
i’m getting 504’s almost every morning. takes trying to reload about 6-7 times and more than 20 minutes
I got one about 15 minutes ago myself. Russian mafia DDOS attacks, if I had to guess - especially given the timing each time - 0700-0800 EST.
About half the time when I go to log in it will go back to the blank log in page instead of showing my user name on the top right. But if I scroll down, and click one of the forums that are shown it takes me the forum, and shows my user name on the top right. Then scroll down to bottom right, and use the scroll menu to go to what forum I want.
I know there was a period where a lot of people where trying to login, and then getting the blank login info on the top right. Just scroll down on the home page of m4c then click on one of the forums. After I do this my login information shows up (user name and PM’s) and I can navigate the sight normally.
I’ve also found 502 errors can be fixed with running CCleaner, restarting, and trying again. For some reason clearing all the cookies and browser data helped at times.
Still don’t understand why this forum has so many issues. This forum SW is pretty standard, and no one else has nearly so many login errors, loading errors, ect. While frustrating its still a good website because of the people.
This thread has many previous shadows that end up as locked topics. What I take away from most of the “Staff” responses is that they’ve been unable/unwilling/unknowing about how to scale the backend with the traffic they’re receiving on a regular basis. Claims of ddos attacks, blaming it on the end users internet connection, browser, or sexual preference seem to be the norm. Not sure who they use for hosting, but they should probably re-evaluate their patronage with them.
Using AdBlock seems to speed up m4c.net for me quite a bit at times. Submitting posts, and sometimes opening up the base forum tree are two of the slowest functions I’m able to make happen for this page.
I’m sure this thread will get locked, and my post will be picked apart by some oversensitive staff member, and one of the reasons I stated above will be to blame.
