50 Shades Of Whey!

I’m reading The Zone, and Sears says too much protein spikes insulin. I supplement with whey to get my needed level, and my question is, how important is timing in all this? Does it matter if you get your daily protein spread across the day, or can I have my whey shakes with my three meals?

Timing wont make or break anything there, but I’m not clear why you’re using that much whey. I recommend maybe one serving per day and the rest from whole food sources.

I’m using two servings because my daily intake is 1650 calories/day, and that is the only way I can get enough protein.

small resurrection, I apologize. Thanks Will for putting this out there for us, it was very informative.

If you were to suggest a protein powder for a couple in their mid 20’s who are active gym goers (4-6x a week), relatively good shape ( he sub-16 2 miles no problem, her sub19 2mile). She wants to tone and I’d like to get a little bigger while both of us would like to trim up.

We do a low carb meal plan and use the protein as an in between meals shake made with non-fat greek yogurt and milk.

I don’t care what it tastes like if it fills the gap, but she’s pretty adamant it has to taste decent.

Thanks in advance

As far as types of whey, WPC, WPI, etc, that’s covered in the free report. Are you asking about brands? Although whey has many beneficial properties and is an excellent source of supplemental protein, it won’t tone her up ir make you bigger per se.

I use CFM WPI (covered in the ebook) from Life Extension (LEF.Org) which is flavored with a little stevia and has added lactoferrin.

But there’s lots of products out there, so decide what you want to use based on report, read labels, pick price point.

Optimal Nutrition tends to make good quality costs effective whey blends.

Thanks, I’ll have to read the report a little closer this time. Again appreciate you putting this info out.
