.50 Beowulf vs .458 RRA Socom

I am interested in buying either the .50 Beowulf or the .458 Socom rifle for Hunting
Large dangerous game such as Bison, Bear, Russian Boar.
Has anyone compared the .458 vs .50 ???

I already own a RRA .223 and a Remington 30.06

Hey Mike, this would probably be better asked in the “AR variants” subforum.

Jay

Jay,

I posted it on other assault rifles

           thank you

They are essentially the same in that they both try to mimic light loaded 45-70’s rounds in the AR-15 chassis.

Figure a 300gr bullet doing anywhere from 1900fps to 2300fps. That’s off the top of my head, so if I am off 100fps, chill out. :p:p:p

Mike,

Are you married to these rounds and the AR platform??

You do not mention what flavor of bear…if black, then either gun would be a fun hunting rig. I would not use either for the brown bear and would move into something along the lines of a .50 Alaskan in a lever rig.

Great web site,
thank you !!!

I prefer the AR platform, I spent many years using them.

             thank you
