Is anyone out there still interested in .50 Beowulf? I recently received an email from Alexander Arms stating that they set up a new loading machine that will allow them to finally provide a healthy supply of ammo for the market, but I get the feeling that it’s a little too late, and that people have simply gotten tired of waiting. It seems to me that Alexander Arms might have killed .50 Beo with their poor product support.
Still lots of interest. We’ll have rifle and ammo in stock soon from them. I myself want to pick up one of their 12.5" SBR .50 Beowulf uppers for one of my SBRs.
Personally Ive wanted one for years but never got around to getting one. Theres just something cool about having an SBR that tosses that kinda energy down range.
My Beowulf has never seen a factory round. I overcame the ammo supply issuses by stocking up on brass and loading for it from day one. Definately gets some attention at the range when I send the first round.
The Beo platform is alive…
I did the same thing. I’ve fired maybe 600 rounds with 100 pieces of brass, and I was always super anal-retentive about retrieving every single piece at the range. I haven’t shot that thing in a while though.
The Beowulf is definitely alive and “kicking”. I have a few friends in Texas and southern Arkansas that use them for hog hunting. I know it’s overkill but, it’s nearly a nescessity for really big hogs in the 500lb+ range.
They call it their “hog flipper”.
The .50Beowulf would make great hog gun. I got this 8 pointer about 6yrs ago. The 325gr HP dropped the 200lb 8 pointer like lightning struck him.

Well I’m glad it’s still alive, although I still can’t help but feel like demand for .50 Beo stuff is down quite a bit from a year or two ago.
How does it compare to 450 Bushmaster for ammo price and availability?
I have a beowulf too and it comes out every now and then, but if ammo were easier to come by i would defiantly shoot it more, its not legal to deer hunt with it here in ohio but hunting squirrel is sure fun…
I don’t know the prices on the new .50 Beowulf ammo, AA has a new company who makes it. I used to reload for mine.
Still alive and going through a minor resurgence with the availability of good barrels at decent prices for those that prefer to roll their own. I built this upper for very little more than what a standard entry upper costs.

M&P45,
That’s a good looking rifle. Besides the .500" bore diameter barrel, what other Beowulf-specific parts did you need?
mbogo
The only Beowulf specific parts are the barrel, bolt/extractor and flash hider. The ejection port needs to be opened up as well. Midway has the barrels readily available in 16’ and 18" length in stainless steel. The bolt they sent me with the barrel had a standard 7.62x39 extractor that didn’t work. I ordered an new extractor from Alexander Arms and have had zero issues since.
Thank you for the information. It seems odd that the ejection port would have to be opened up if the Beowulf was supposed to work in a ‘standard’ AR upper, but not everything is as it appears to be.

If my dad was still around, I’m pretty sure he would be impressed with that buck!
Rob, Nice buck! Did you take that deer in VA?
Robb:
Old school, is that a Trigi reflex…
Surprised their is not a hole the size of a football. ![]()
