I don’t understand the crown thing and accuracy. It seems like you’re inferring that the heat is eroding the integrity of the crown. How many rounds are you talking about.

I believe my review was posted at Silencer Talk. I have no lack of understanding of suppressor blowback, I just have used enough to know when something is excessive by comparison.

It has nothing to do with heat. The Surefire blew back enough crud as to damage the crown enough to affect accuracy. I don’t know how many rounds before it degraded accuracy, as I don’t know when the last overhaul of the rifle was done.
I am not saying your wrong but what your describing doesn’t make sense. The SF mount has a flat base with a hole in it for the projectile to pass. This flat base stands between the crown and the supressor. If you are saying it isn’t heat then are you are talking about fouling? If it is fouling - sounds like a cleaning issue. If it isn’t fouling there is such a thing called heat checking which could account for the erosion of the crown. However while the barrel and the mount are likely made of dissimilar materials some level of errosion should be present in the base of the mount itself. Additionally, heat checking should be present (not uniform) in all portions of the barrel. The net effect of which is the barrel is “shot out”.
Without knowing the origin / quality / and round count of the barrels in question - why are you saying this was the result of the SF?

The barrels are from a premier military contractor known for supplying high-quality barrels. The round count is negligible as the rifles are regularly inspected to insure they are within specs; to include air-gauging and scoping to inspect the rifling. I say they are a result of the Surefire because the weapon came out of inspection, performed fine during work-up, suppressor was added, accuracy began to drop off. Drink the kool-aid or don’t drink it, but this was my experience and these are the details I am willing to share.
Are you saying barrels used in the field are periodically air gauged by field armorers?
Are you also saying they are periodically removing the mount to check the crown too?
