5.56 ammo back and cheaper

Went to my favorite gunstore today, they had the cans of Federal
M855 62gr.green tip back out on the floor…price was $333.33.
Now, the cheapest Ive seen that…IF you coud find it, was around $420. This is the 420 round can, and its NOT marked “Not For Duty Use”. Had I not been in a bind, woulda bought another.
Also…they had a lot of Speer Gold Dot pistol ammo in. Bought 100 rounds of Speer +P 125gr. .38 Special GD…$29.99 for per 50rnd. box. Not “bad” in todays prices I thought. Also bought 100 rounds of
Speer GD 115gr. 9mm…$29.99 per 50.
Anoyne else noticing a bit more diverse ammo selection coming back around? Many still have one box a day limits, but at least they are there. Saw Colt brand steel 30 round AR mags for $30. Lancer 20rnd. mags for $20.
Again, around here anyway, Im seeing a much better selection than even a month ago. What are yall seeing/hearing?

Got the last 100rd federal 9mm value pack for $23 last week at walmart. They had tula spam can 223 at .30cents a rd too. But I was also in a bind and couldnt get that

Beware of the lot that Federal is recalling.

Big box stores in my area (DFW); Cabela’s, Bass Pro, Gander Mountain, Dick’s, Sports Authority are usually completely out of any popular calibers. Cheaper Than Dirt has a lot of ammo in stock but its not moving as they have M193 priced at $1.50 per round, Russian steel in any flavor of 7.62x39 at $1.50 per round, and 115 grn FMJ 9mm at a $1.00 per round. I’m scoring at my area Wal-Mart stores and a regional sporting goods chain Acadmey Sports & Outdoors. I hit five stores daily and score several times a week at pre-panic retail prices. I don’t even bother looking online or at gunshows any longer as the prices are nothing short of highway robbery. I’m buying it cheap when I can find it and stacking it deep.

As I said in the ammo sub-forum the other day, patience and persistence wins the day gentlemen.

Dry everywhere I go out here…

I was at a local chain store yesterday & the clerks were stocking the shelves with 5.56, 9mm & 40 S&W. The 5.56, depending on the brand, varies between $0.30-$0.50/round. The .40 was about $0.34/round. I don’t know what the 9mm is priced at. Things are really picking up around here. More & more guns and ammo are hitting the shelves and they’re sticking around a lot longer too. They still have limits on the quantity you can purchase.

Same here

Yeah, about the .40 ammo, Ive noticed it in abundance, and never seen it with a purchase limit. Also, throughout this latest bullshit the prices on it didn’t waiver near as much as other ammo.
I wonder why?
Also…whats up with 16 gauge ammo? Its damn near extinct.

I thought it was extinct.

Same here in MD.

straight shooter - where do you live? Maybe worth a drive.

Im in Huntsville Alabama brother…that would be one hell of an ammo run!!

Local Academy is dry by 0900 Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Walmart hasn’t had anything on the self for months. Went by GT Distributors last Friday and their shelves were bare as well. In the Austin area we are still low.

Dry as all can be here in CO- for obvious reasons. I search night and day all around town, even going out far to try and find anything- no luck for the past month.

I even took the advice about going into wally world at 2:00 am to find ammo with UPC codes from the other thread and there are usually about 20-50 guys at every store I have been to at that time doing the same thing and there is about 20 boxes to fight over and they go quick- I have yet to be able to grab more than (5) 20 round boxes of freaking Tula .223.

It is a nightmare here in CO. I haven’t seen ammo on a shelf other than odd ball calibers (Even those are getting eaten up now…) for quite some time.

I am almost out of training ammo and it sucks, this is the time my family and I need to train the most…

I bought some bulk realoading supplies to supplement my reloading capabilities, but the components are not yet delivered and there is no ETA.

I won’t pay more than .50 cents per round- just can’t justify it. If it were some MK-318 mod-0 I would go over .50 a round, but I haven’t seen that in months…

Tough times…

UPDATE:
JUST came in from an early morning ammo run. WalMart…who I now use only almost exclusively to just buy ammo, had some ammo in, the first Ive seen in awhile. I just scored 3 100 round boxes of Federal 9mm 115 FMJ…for $21.37 per hundred. Went to eat breakfast, came back after shift change, got a 100rnd. box of Winchester .38 Special 130 FMJ {for practice} for $34.67. AND…two fifty round boxes of Federal .22LR…$2.17 per box.
Hadnt seen that in months & months.
Also, our lgs is now allowing purchases of up to 1 case a day of ammo, well up from the 1 box per limit previously.
And, this weekend the Federal ammo truck will be onsite…ammo galore. Also heard Hornady is coming this month too.
Ill be one broke mofo come May.:p:happy:

LOL, for sure.

Mill’s Fleet Farm?

Yep

Looks like a trip is due this weekend.
Thanks for the heads up!

To me $333 for 420 Rds is not cheap. I was getting 1000 rds for $345 delivered. It still needs to come down some to get me to start stocking up o. 5.56 again.

Any body been able to take a look in Blaine’s Farm and Fleet or any ff for that matter, and look at .22lr? I work all over IL and one spot in southern WI(Elkhorn). Will be there in a couple months and availability of ammo sucks down here right now.
