4 moa or 2moa dot

Looking for input on best dot size. I want to purchase Aimpoint. The comp M2 is aviailable with either, and the comp M4 is only available with 2moa. I really like 4moa, but I like the comp M4.

you can sorta make a 2 moa dot look bigger by increasing the intensity of the dot.

M2’s are 4 MOA only. M3/ML3/C3 come in 2 MOA and 4 MOA. What do you want to do with your Aimpoint and how much do you want to spend?

However, 4 MOA is more than adequate for target/threat engagement out to 300Ms and is good for range estimations. 4 MOA = 4" circle on target/threat at 100Ms. 4 MOA = 8" circle on target/threat at 200Ms (avg. human head is 9" in circumference). 4 MOA = 12" circle on target/threat at 300Ms (avg. human chest is 19" in width).

No, but basically any [M2/ML2] made after 2005 will have the newer circuitry.

I think only a small percentage of folks who get the 2MOA have a use for it and or use it to it’s full potential… and the rest just get it cause.

I’m not a fan of building a Jack of all trades DO everything gun from 0 to 600 meters as having a Red dot offset next to an ACOG.

I know I take the less popular view, but a 4MOA Red dot will solve 95% of anyone’s problems when it comes to AR’s and those who need to have a 4MOA dot placed somewhere on there outline…

But I also know that would be a boring solution and take the fun away.

But I like boring… it has a repeatably reliability all it’s own…

You can find used M2’s with LT mounts for about $425 and put the difference into ammo/training.

i ordered the 2 MOA Aimpoint ML3 myself.

Did you get the LaRue mount? And if yes, standard or cantilever?

i got the combo with the standard larue mount LT150  i think the cantilever looks weird since it’s not being used with a magnifier or NV.

Thanks for the reply. That is the sight I have pretty much settled on and have been going back and forth on the mounts.

Another vote for a 2 dot MOA.

2 MOA. You can crank it down for more precision at distances and dial it up to a bigger dot for CQB.

I guess I’m the odd one out. I prefer the 4 MOA dot. It’s quicker to pick up for my eyes that are getting a little bit older. I’m somewhat suspect of claims that people can shoot a smaller dot with more precision. It just doesn’t work that way for me. They seem to shoot the same for me.

Member Molon did a pretty good write up here regarding accuracy and 4 MOA dots.

If you are going to use a magnifier, I would recommend the 2 MOA…other than that, I like how quick you can get on target a bit quicker with the 4 MOA.

With that said, my personal preference is the 2 MOA.

haha, i’ve been doing the exact same thing! but i settled on the LT150 and no regrets at all, because i don’t need my aimpoint to be that far forward and it looks weird without an magnifier or nv attached - i get it tomorrow too!

We WILL expect pictures.

T1 or H1

Oh that’s not an option? Another vote for 2 MOA.

2 MOA.

Since the T1/H1 are supposed to be 3.4 MOA, is the difference that noticeable? I want a sight for close-150 yds with very good FOV at any angle. I have heard that the T1/H1 are tougher to sight through if you can not maintain proper cheek weld, is this true?

Will the Ml3 be better suited for these conditions?

My wife who is rather in experienced shooter has no problem what so ever with her cheek weld and head alignment when using my T1. It’s really a non issue unless you firing from some really weird positions, and even then I doubt it would really be an issue. The weight savings and reduced effect on your peripheral vision is more than worth it.

I vote for the T-1. I know it wasn’t an option you were originally looking at, but I have 3 of them now and love them! The small size and extremely light weight (6.2 oz with larue high mount) makes it the best option for most shooters IMHO.

But I’m obsessed with size and weight when it comes to my ARs, and you might not care at all about those two things.

Any word on when the T-1 will be available with a 2 MOA dot ? Like having your cake and eating it to.
