Well there appears to be 2 types of holders for sale out there;
1)Version made by Mark Otto, sold at 3Gunstuff
2)California Competition works, same style but attached differently?
So on to the questions, since I can’t compare them side by side physically, I wondering if there are some end users that can comment on either? quality? belt attachment preference?
Overall satisfaction? Thanks

AP Custom (Double Stackers 4x4)
Carbon Arms’s “TWinS”
Sold my CCW’s for Mark Ottos and have two AP CUSTOM 4x4’s. A friend has the mountain man caddies and they are nowhere near as smooth as the Ottos. Once I learned how to weakhand reload the limiting factor for speed isn’t really about shucking the shells in. Its getting a proper grip on the shells coming out of the caddy that slows me down. If I don’t have them lined up right thats when all hell breaks loose.
Haven’t tried the Carbon Arms TWinS yet but they look really interesting and the learning curve is supposed to be a lot less than weakhand reloading.
CCW’s have spacers to accommodate different shell lengths. That clip thingy in your the pic you post sucks. They do come with either a standard metal belt clip or teklok. If your running a molle belt get the one with the teklok and use bladetech’s molle attachment as the hole patterns are the same. Bolt holes also link up for safariland els system. I think the ccw’s are available for the safariland els system straight from safariland. Take the spacer out and they double as a pretty decent pmag holders.
Mark Ottos are adjustable to accomodate shell length. Just need a screwdriver. Comes with teklok, thus you can use the bolt holes to do everything listed above.
Mountain Man Caddies have rigid metal belt loops. Really helps exposes the velcro and that helps your belt rig stay tight on the inner belt. Same shell retention wire style as the CCW’s. Not as slick as the Ottos.
AP Customs are great if you don’t go prone on them. Comes with teklok.
Thanks for the info, it helped me, I’m familiar with the Tec-Lok set up so I was leaning that way.Sounds like the Otto holders are the better choice.Good work.BTW any preference over the 4 or 6 shell model?
I’ll second that. Get the 4’s I originally went with the 6’s and just last week cut them both down to 4’s. I actually like the CCW clip type (pictured above). I have found it to work well on both my regular belts and molle.
