.375 CheyTac Cababilities?

Recently I called up Desert Tactical Arms about their Hard Target Interdiction rifles. I wanted to know which of the long range rounds they were getting the best results with, since all four caliber configurations of the HTI are completely identical (minus the muzzle brake). To my surprise the gentleman started praising the .375 CT, an underdog as far as I was concerned. Well, apparently it did better out of a 29-inch barrel at 2500+ yards than the .50 BMG, .408 CT, and .416 Barrett. He told me that the round will easily break records in the near future, and that shooting past 25 was quite achievable.

Does anyone have experience with this cartridge? I’d be very interested to see some holes on paper at ultra-long range.

running hand lathed solid bronze bullets you can get supersonic speeds out to 3,000 m and a very high BC. Lutz Moller was producing some solids for this caliber but I have heard that he no longer does. At distances like this a lot of folks will run the solids due to the really high BC’s. The solids do come with a hefty price tag.

are we talking like .95, or even higher?

Yes and into the 1’s

range from .85 to 1.0+ depending on grains

wow thats incredible. 30 years ago people didnt even think that was possible!!

Are you in the market for one?

possibly in the future. right now im just trying to appreciate the technology. i find it fascinating that one person can send a bullet downrange that far and hit such a small target. i mean, 25 football fields? thats unreal!!

UPDATE: I called DTA today about groups, and they said that the company CEO was making 20-inch groups at 2600 yards. Not 25, 26

Check out Kirby Allens webpage maybe send him and email if you have any questions. Some good info on his 375 Allem mag just for comparision sake.

thanks for the info guys!

1 mile easy. look on snipers hide lot of chatter on it. The ammo isn’t the limiting factor it’s the optics so gives you idea of how far you can go. There’s a thread of repeatable accurate hits at 2 miles.
