I returned home to find that my Aimpoint 9000SC 2X2 RDS from MidwayUSA had arrived. I want to mount it on a flat top upper that has an F marked FSB on it. Does anyone here have this RDS on a similar upper(Flat top upper with a F marked FSB)and if so what mounting system did you use and did you achive exact co-witness or the lower third co-witness? I am leaning towards to LaRue 30MM QD rings, but will entertain other ideas on mounting.
Thanks in advance for any and all advice or help,
Gary
I’d be interested to hear how you like that RDS, I saw that and the ML2 in the Midway gazette.
It is actually going on the lovely Wife’s Anvil Arms lower with a Stag model 2H complete upper. She likes to ring the gongs and blow up water jugs expired can goods and over ripened fruit
. I like to encourage her BR habit, will add info the more we use it. The price was certainly a plus in considering this purchase. I am now thinking about a ML2 for another upper.
The 9000 and the ML2 look very similar; what’s the $100 difference?
I use Burris XTR X-High rings with my camo 9000sc. It gives something close to a lower 1/3 cowitness. For me it works ok, but I do have problems with it. There is only about 1(maybe 2) positions I can mount the Aimpoint and be able to deploy my buis. When the BUIS(i use an MBUS) is deployed it sits so close to the Aimpoint I can’t open up the scope caps. I wish it was QD, but that’s not a big deal. Basically the mounting systems works and should be solid, but it isn’t as user friendly as I want it to be. I’ve thought about buying a cantilever mount like the Burris p.e.p.r. or the similar mount from SWFA to give me more leeway in mounting my Aimpoint and BUIS. The only reason I haven’t is that I’m thinking that I would rather spend the money towards a smaller aimpoint or something else for my guns since the setup does work. Of course if I quit using flip up lens caps, there really wouldn’t be any problem.
I use a Larue 150 mount on my Aimpoint ML2.
it’s a lower 1/3 co witness. the mount is position at the farthest edge of the flat top upper. at the back of flat top upper is an LMT BUIS.
I don’t have a problem with flipping the RDS cover. it just misses my BUIS by less than an inch.
